A handsome plant with wide and stiff leathery leaves bearing large marginal spines in a compact bottle shape. The color is grayish silver over dark green, with some brown mottling, becoming darker with age. Culture affects size, to almost 24 inches tall and about as wide. Offsets are silvery and the plant matures more of a black color. Growing in bright light and limited fertilizer.
